Alice Derry is an emeritus professor of language and literature at Peninsula College, in Port Angeles, Washington, where, in addition to her many other roles,  she co-directed the Foothills Poetry Series and taught creative writing. Besides this collection of translated poems, she has also published three volumes of her original work: Stages of Twilight, Clearwater, Not as You Once Imagined, and Strangers to Their Courage. She has another book, Tremolo, upcoming from Red Hen Press in 2011.
